Get hands on and explore the science and wonder of light through time in our brand-new, family friendly exhibition which looks at how we have used and made light across the centuries. How does it travel? What happens when you mix different coloured light? Carry out your own light-based experiments and find out for yourself!
From beautiful paintings of gas-lit Leeds by artist John Atkinson Grimshaw to a Bronze Age lamp from Jericho and Javanese shadow puppets, this fascinating exhibition will take you on a journey through the history of light from early handmade clay lamps to beautiful chandeliers.
Turn your face upside down in a human kaleidoscope, try your hand at performing your own shadow puppet show and bend yourself into all sorts of shapes and sizes in our hall of mirrors.
2015 is the UNESCO International Year of Light
