Phil Donkin brings his long awaited debut album to Wakefield Jazz on Friday 13th March. Contrary to belief that will certainly be a lucky day for the WJ audience, Phil has promised “It will be very special”. “The Gate” represents the gateway to oneself a real insight into improvisation that derives from really listening and responding to what each member of the band produces. The band is no less illustrious than its leader the meticulous and flowing piano of American born Glen Zaleski will be accompanied by Julian Siegel the UK’s most treasured reeds player and New York drummer Colin Stranahan will drive the rhythms with the sole ambition of making a sensitive connection with the audience.
